
A 14 hour class designed to instruct the security officer in the moral and legal aspects on the use of the firearm while on duty.
This course will not allow the student to carry a concealed weapon. There is no temporary firearm permit. Students must wait until a record check
has been conducted by the state and federal agencies involved to receive the license. Must be 18 years of age.
Fees
- Course: $90.00 (includes the use of one caliber of your choice and ammunition, as well as target and range fees),
- Add $15.00 for each additional caliber, plus $10.00 gun rental, and $10.00 per bag of ammo.

Permit Application Fees
If applying for Firearms Permit only:
- Live Scan at D.O.J. $108.00,
- B.S.I.S. fee $80.00.
If applying for Firearms Permit and Guard Card:
- Live Scan at D.O.J. $108.00,
- B.S.I.S. fee $130.00.
Requalification
About one hour (Mangan Range - private range). In order to maintain a valid firearm license, a security officer must
requalify four times during a two year period. Each requalification must be completed no sooner than four months between requalification. All
four requals should be submitted for renewal to B.S.I.S. no later than 60 days prior to the expiration date in order to allow B.S.I.S. time
to send the NEW license. You can sign up for follow-up reminders and CSTA will send you a reminder post card when time is for you to requal.
Requal Fees
- $15.00 per caliber (includes Target and Range Fee),
- Gun rental $10.00 (we have .38spc. .357, .9mm .40Cal, .45Cal), and $10.00 for each bag of ammo.
